Braided Waters
Ceramic Art by Steve Heuer
About my work
Sculptural Ceramic Art
The art I create stems from my desire to capture (in clay) the natural shapes, scapes, and settings that mean so much to me. My Drifts are inspired by the playful wave-forms of moving water, drifting snow and sand, pictographs and the various geological forms that I’ve encountered in my years. I strive to capture the fleeting moments of beauty we all discover on our paths. Many of my drifts hold impressions of prairie plants, fossils, shells, and more, that I find on my strolls through the woods and across the prairies. Others are carved and shaped by hand.
Each Drift is one of a kind (I never do duplicates).
My drifts look great in both day-light and at night, catching candle-light beautifully, often echoing ancient cave art and pictographs.
My work-shop sits high on a ridgetop in the rugged driftless area of southwestern Wisconsin
