About my work

My workshop sits atop a ridgetop in the beautiful driftless region of southwestern Wisconsin. To the north, I have long views of undulating hills and valleys. Like waves, they draw my eyes and mind to the wild places and free waters of the far north. Memories rise of magical times there and the play of warm campfire-light reflecting off trees and rock faces. These reveries inspire the drifts I make in the quiet hours of night and early morn.
I try to capture the alluring patterns of drifted snow and sand and of moving water’s playful wave-forms.
Each Drift is uniquely one-of-a-kind, telling its own story. I take desiccated prairie plants, fossils, shells, and other mostly organic lifeforms that I find on my walks and press these into soft clay, capturing their mark for you to enjoy.Each Drift will have a different look and energy depending on the light. At night, try a candle, a little closer, maybe a bit to the right or left. Maybe a taller candle, or a shorter one. Make it your own.
